its well worn and pitted, but i think salvagable.

the first leters of the marking are GHEMI.... or CHEMI and ithink the date might be 1947

I tried some searching to no avail... I found it in my granpas shed with the handle rotting out of it so I just want to know for history's sake.

Thanks,

Hodges

Sager Chemical Axe. Manufactured in 1947 by Warren Axe and Tool. Nice find.

Thanks again, unfortunatly the head is damaged, a large chip under one of the beards and maybe some cracks (it looks like somone tried to knock it off of its handle a bit too hard). There is an experienced woodworker/professor here at school so im hoping he can see if it is still servicable or not. If not, ill oil it up and put a new handle on it and hang it somewhere. There were a lot of good carpenters in my family a few generatios ago, so this is a bit of a relic to me.

Ill try to take some pics if I can.
