Although difficult to determine from looking at the photo, it appears that the blade has been heavily buffed recently. The blade looks super-shiny, there are no use-marks or signs of sharpening, and the top part of "SCHRADE" has been rubbed away. That greatly affects collector value in a negative way.

I'd be interested in learning more, from an expert. The date, for example (1970s?).

Does the knife function properly? I have a few of that style of knife but they are ones as did you, I got them from family members. Im very interested in the knife if your not going to keep it though. Are you keeping it?

Well, based on the tang stamp. it is 1973 or earlier.

Autos are not my forte. In fact, not much is my forte...

Thanks for asking but I would like to find more information aboout the knife first.

Schrade stopped making switches in 1958 or 59 when the law banned their sale.
The knife looks in decent shape. Does open and lock when the button is pushed? (function properly? as gradall5200 asked)
If you find any more in Grandma's kitchen let me know.
THanks
Larry

There isnt too many of these but if you look up schrade or schrad/walden button knife on e-bay; there is some button/switch blade knives floating around. certain ones bring real high dollar. thats a pretty good place to get an idea of price. although I havent seen too many on there as they are illegal. I was just kidding about the knife I do like it but I wasnt trying to get it from you.

looks like the cell is shrinking badly-looks like it's shurnk right up to and is touching the button.

I have a knife like yours. Recieved it as a gift from a friend about 25 years ago. He was a truck driver who made deliveries to Fort Lewis in Washington and had somehow traded for a box full of these from someone on base. I was told it was issued to the paratroops and have seen like knives in several books on military pocket knives.
