A friend found this old straight razor. It has some engraving in it under all the patina. Does anyone know anything about this? Should I try to clean it up/fix it and sharpen?

The the heck is going on with that edge? Was it used to shave carbide?

No matter what you it'll always be worth $3. Extra Points to anyone who gets that.

not going to be anything but a corn razor till its cleaned up. that is if its even a 4/8 till the edge is ground straight again. what is it you want to know other then that?

It is an old Goe. Wostenholm and Sons Sheffield England razor in very poor condition. It has no value.
Clean it up just enough to remove the rust and regrind the edge to make it better looking, but it will likely never be a user. There is nothing to loose by doing this.

Thanks for the advice everyone. It was found in an old house basement with much more rust and crud on it than currently in the picture. It was rode hard, put up wet and then forgotten.
