$28 for these 3D printed scales… I don’t have any experience with 3D printed stuff, are they durable? Sometimes I see Kabar micarta scales for $40 shipped and I’d rather just wait for those deals and get the micarta ones.

I kinda like the bamboo (and am assuming the name is for the color). Wonder how the material would stand up to the dyeing process...

I'd expect molded or CNC'd scales to be much tougher, but if they're locked down solid and you're not using the handle like a club, shd be fine. Probably fairly light, so may change the balance. But 3D printing has come a long way. I'm surprised at the cost, 3D printing isn't really cost-effective from a time perspective, but there's a lot less waste and can be done inside the house.

The "ebony" ones look more like slate to me. Maybe if polished? But it seems like the texture is one of the appeals.

They look good.
Depending on material used printing they could be durable.

For those of you with acces to a 3D printer, there's some Becker 3D print files / 3D models available to print your self
here/ and here
Liners for the Tweeners, handles for the smaller Beckers, handles for full size Beckers, trainer knives, sheaths and more....

Very cool.
What would those in the know estimate the cost and time to be to print a set of Long and Short scales out of a reasonable material? Asking for a friend...

No clue about the cost. I'd check if there's a Fablab nearby, they can help out for limited cost.

depends on the material...

some will not be stable at higher temps

abs can be brittle

nylon glass reinforced/etc can be tough as nails

material matters
