Found some old Buck pocket knives

Nice find, they do look really old.
I am sure some of the 110 collectors can tell you more about them.

That is a great find. The knife with the BUCK* stamp looks like a Version 3 Variation 1 (1966-1967) and the knife with the Buck horizontal stamp looks like a Version 2 (1965-1966); it may be either a Variation 1 or 2; the photo doesn't show the characteristic distinguishing the 2 variations.

Great score!
As bertl bertl said, they date from the 1960's.
Blade steel on both is 440C.
The wood is "real"; not a laminate like they use now.

If they were mine, I'd send them to Buck for a SPA Treatment, and have them sharpened to the Edge 2000 standard instead of the historical edge. (easier to sharpen with the modern edge geometry)

It looks like they both have lots of life left. Carry and enjoy them. :)

We sure don't have junk shops or pawn shops here with knives like those.

Very nice! Thanks for sharing, as others have mentioned they look to be in great condition for their age. Sheaths with them by chance?

Great score, amazing addition to any collection.

John, I recommend you run out and buy a lottery ticket. Those model 110's are highly sought after by collectors. The Buck* is 1967 and the other one earlier by a little. A great find. Welcome to the Buck Forum. DM

Nice pair of oldies! I would not use them and keep them as they are, as those are hard to find and command a decent price. They would look great in my collection!!!

John, As a new forum member it my duty as a moderator to give you advice. (At least I think so) You will receive several emails and offers from Buck collectors and resellers. Unless you need money, I would wait a spell to accept any of those offers. For one thing, this Holiday time is really not a good time to be mailing rare knives thru any shipping service. Even if you are keeping them and thinking about sending them in to Buck for a refurbishment. ( Spa treatment). I would also recommend you call Buck's customer service before you send them to them and let them know the age of the 110s coming. They will give you advice on what they can do and how to ship. Some collectors may not want you to send them to Buck, but to sell them in the raw as you found them.

You can start a collection or sell them for a bright penny or many more. Just think it out and don't let anyone hurry you if you are able.

That's my advice. 300Bucks, Buck forum moderator. And believer in the square deal.

Thank you....that's good advise and I apoappreci you overseeing us novice collectors.

Cheers
John

I'd go a little further and say don't send them to Buck for refurbishment. In general, vintage knives will always be worth more "as found" and your edges are great for a knife this old.

The "junk" store isn't living up to its name. Those are treasures. I've been hunting for 110's of that vintage for 10 years and havent had a sniff of 110's that old(within any reasonable price). Great find

Wow. Great scores. Heck of a start to a collection. Good find, and welcome to the Buck forum
