Found some 'old' Master Series knives! :)

I was able to locate a 532MS and 110MS with pressed checkering and emblem!

Quest is over - I should have them in hand soon.

This place had an old 119MS, and 192MS as well with checkering and emblem.

Persistant pays off I guess....LOL. I was able to get them for less than suggested retail (not internet prices unfortunately).

If some one is interested in the two fixed blades - send me a private e-mail and I can send you the phone number and contact. No more 532, or 110.

Just one each of the 119, and 192 MS w/ checkering and emblem.

Longden,

You might check with Paul Lentz of NC. He is a Buck knife dealer and might still have a 501MS. If he doesn't, he might know of someone who does. His number is 704-782-9221. Good luck.

Longden,
Good luck finding that 501MS. I have one and it is a wonderful knife. Very useful and with the BG42 SS cuts exceptionally well.

Ray, you're right bud ... already got one (501MS) and greedy for a spare.

John, thanks for the tip. Paul Lentz is the guy I bought my 532MS from, and was the first person I thought of when the notion to get a 2nd 501MS struck me ... he was cleaned out of the MS line.

Greg, ditto on the usefulness. I'm not into big blades and the 501MS is just the right size ... clipless, checkered and the BG-42 is really sweet.

Would give up my 532MS for another 501MS (anyone got one to swap?). 532 and 110 are both bigger than my normal carry.

I'd call this baby my "poor man's small Sebenza", except I think I like it better than the Benz. Checkered grip is really secure, thin narrow blade is a great cutter and has a spacer where the Benz doesn't so the loose change in my pocket doesn't jam the blade. All this for a price that won't give me a heart attack if one day it should come up lost/stolen/broken... unlike the Benz.

I got the dough for a Benz, but heck without the spacer, it'd actually be a step backward for me.

So any leads on a 501MS are still appreciated...thanks.

Well, THERE goes the neighborhood?!

Both of these arrived today!

The 110 was much nicer that I thought it would be with the checkering and emblem (no file work on the 110 - U were right Bill). The 532 was the one I REALLY wanted BAD - blade grind is a little off on the tip, but I can't complain - still a NICE medium pocket knife! The file work on the 532 is nice little added touch.

I have some of the 'MS' 110 w/ BG-42 - plain jane ones: great buy for the $ IMHO. The only other way into a BG-42 folder is a Sebenza (about 4 X the $). The Senbenza is in a different class of course.

I think the Buck Custom shoppe should have checkering as an OPTION! Excellant grip with the checkering.

If you can find these discountinued Master Series folders OR fixed blades (with checkering and emblem) - even at full retail, they are worth $.

Pete`s Custom Shoppe DID have checkering as an option for a while, but the last time I checked it was gone. Bummer! As I recall, you could get the red or the walnut colored wood checkered.

They also have MOP once in a while, but it`s really pricey, over $100, if I remember correctly. MOP comes and goes; I hope checkering will be back!

All,
I believe Pete's shoppe still has the checkering. Just be sure you are not looking at the fingergrooved handles. I think that the regular handles are still available in walnut and cherry or some similar red material with checkering. I have a walnut checkered model with nickel silver bolsters and BG-42 steel and it is a real beauty.

I just checked yesterday and they were gone. I was suprised, to say the least, because I wanted to get the checkering on my next Pete`s custom. Oh, well, he who hesitates.....
