Benhmade if you're listening, do away with the cutout on the blade portion of the sheath, it's only gonna let tonnes of shite into the sheath to ruin the finish, gunk everything up and blunt the knife . And anyone buying one for the next middle east adventure would be glad not to have their sheath full of sand at the end of every day.

Looks fairly serviceable otherwise so well done with the rest of it.

Good point on the cutout, but otherwise I agree that this looks like a nice sheath. Can't wait until the 119 goes on sale.

I'm sorry I annoyed you

With my wanting a good stock sheath...
Sorry to disappoint you, takes a lot more than that to annoy me. Sorry you were annoyed by my opinion. I'll try and remember your sensitivity level next time I post. ;)

It definitely looks like a strap could be threaded through it. Not a bad idea.

It appears to similar to the sheath style on the SOG Seal PUP Elite knife. There is a pull tab that allows a gate to open for quick attachment and detachment.

Guessing it and the strange thing sticking out the top of the sheath are something to do with the "innovative attachment system"

Yes, That would be the American Sportsman Products clip. It has been around a long time. SOG has been using them for at least 15 year I believe. I don't know what they use now as I don't buy new SOGs. Altogether I would describe it as an average clip. It is not very adjustable. It can pinch you. It feels like cheap plastic. That said, I have used them for years and for simple belt attachment they work. I have modded a couple to allow for lower and higher placement of the sheath depending on my needs. I prefer other attachments methods more. The SOG I carry the most (Seal Pup Elite) is with a G-clip, others are with tec-loks. Most sheaths I own get an Esee 5/6 clip plate attached for belt carry.

I must say I am a little disappointed with this choice of attachment. At this price point I would have hopped for more. I was warming up to the knife after initial sticker shock but this is a set back. Also the retention of the sheath itself will be a defining point. Benchmade has a history of shipping great knives with dysfunctional or lack luster sheathes. I have had 3 different Nimravus sheaths and none of them did what I wanted. The knives sat around waiting for me to have a custom made but often if this happens with a knife I end up selling it. I know, big surprise, I have too many knives so I can let the unused ones just sit without a proper sheath. I understand others may not have this "problem". I like companies that either provide an adequate sheath or none at all so at least I know what I am getting into. I'll now have to see reviews of the sheath before I can further justify the purchase of this knife. It is a looker for sure though!

Looking at the picture and reading the description again, I hope it isn't the American Sports man thing. There is a chance it is not. There is a chance it is a "future-forward fixed blade design with an innovative sheath attachment feature that allows for integration with almost anything". However, if that is the American sportsman thing, it is in no way "innovative". Hopefully there is more to it than that.

I do not see a problem with this sheath for my uses. I will add that having an imperfect sheath ship with a knife suits me much better than no sheath at all. As a purchaser of far too many Busse/Kin, any sheath being delivered with no additional wait time/cost feels like Christmas every time.
An Arvensis will assuredly end up in my camp box and probably another in my desk.

I'd rather have no sheath than a teased promise of a functional one. At least I know what I am getting. My experience with the Nimravus Sheaths makes me wary of claims of innovation. The Plastic Nimravus sheath was a disaster. Whether this one will work I won't know until it is reviewed. And if they do use the American Sportsman Attachment it is just about as far as can be from their claim of innovation. That would be a big disappointment. I hope it is not true.

If this knife relies on the strap for retention and cannot be moded so the kydex provides the primary retention with no rattle it might as well not come with a sheath because the stock one will not work for my uses. If the belt clip is the American Sportsman clip it might as well not have come with one. I have plenty that I removed from knives years and years ago that were replaced with better options for me. And if both these things are true the cost of this knife for me will go up significantly. Same thing that had me go through 3 Nimravus'. They never stayed because I had better options that functioned the way I needed, many for less money.

+1 for getting a sheath made! I love the knife but don't care for kydex so I'll definitely order a leather sheath for mine. Can't wait for the email saying they are in stock.

Say Heah Boys and Girls, I just got my B M Arvensis 119, It's Simply TiT's, Aces. I bought it especially for wet and snowy weather, I also teamed mine with the Bokor Coye Ridgeback a nice match incidentally. I always like a robust knife in my hand and the 119 is a great feeling knife and works great in the bush for what I do. I normally team my knife with a Hatchet either my G. B. Small Forest Axe or one of my Fav. Bush Craft Hatchet s my 17" Hultafors Bruks Agdor Hatchet, or my Estwing Double Bit Hatchet grrrrrr I can match it up with alot of them. I also like to bring a nice folding saw. I don't have a problem matching my Arvensis 119 with my other gear, A lovely design, and that hand guard doesn't get in my way either. Go Tribe !!!

I love the Arvensis and the sheath. If you're really that worried about the slot, put some tape over it.
