The other day I was cleaning out one of my drawers and I found this old "knife" I made waaaaay back when I was still in school. I guess I was somewhere around 15 back then. Actually i remember making several of them, all with different materials and designs and I gave some of them to my friends. I really hope i can find some of the others.
Anyway, I made this knife mainly for cutting paper with the tip and other small miscellaneous tasks I could come up with both in school and outside.
I' m gonna try to explain the build of this particular one.
The blade was pretty much just a blade I screwed out of a pencil sharpener and sharpened to a razor edge with an old benchstone. I then ground away the lower part of the edge so it would not cut into the handle and have some sort of a tang for added strength.
The handle consists of an empty ink cartridge of a fountain pen filled up with hot glue, the blade and a metal clicky-cap of a pen stuck in the rear end. I then wrapped this basic construction with some basic tape(only a thin layer though). After that I added some superglue on the tape and slid a rubber tube-like grip from the same pen I had already demolished over it for added thickness and grip.
I further lined the edges of the rubber grip with some more hot glue for ergonomics(I suppose) and securing it.
After that I made a basic sheath out of some cardboard lined with alot of masking tape. It fits the "knife" perfectly and holds it securely.
So yeah, was/am i a freak or what?
Hope you like!
