These guys apparently build the knife I was looking for: double edged, full tange, black, and the length and width seems right, the type of steel seems right, and the grip seems like it wouldn't accumulate oil or become slippery.

It's expensive coming in at almost $400.

Are they good or do you have a better recommendation for a tactical knife?

Sample size of one, but I'm very pleased with their "Enyo" CC knife so far. They're definately a quality maker from what I've seen, however little it is. I'm planning on buying their Nyx when I get the money saved up FWIW.

I've had the pleasure of meeting them at two Chesapeake knife shows, and Bill Harsey at the second Chesapeake knife show of those. These guys are real deal military pros, and Bills good name speaks for itself (and he's a good guy too). I have not bought any of their designs, but I have had some of Bills designs for other companies before, and liked them. Only complaint, I don't like coatings, but that can be taken care of with a little elbow grease.
