Found Spyderco with Stag Scales?

Today at an antique store I spotted a Spyderco in a display case full of knives. I didn't think much about it at the time and didn't get a very close look at it unfortunately (I was looking for a straight razor lol).

It was priced at $75 and I'm thinking about going back to the store and picking it up. However, I can't seem to find a model like it anywhere online. As I mentioned in the title, it was a folder with stag scales. The only Spyderco I found with stag scales was the Kiwi which isn't even remotely similar to the one in the store. I know that this is extremely vague, but it had a blade shape similar to the Endura4 and was a bit over 3 inches in length. Any idea what it might be?

It was clearly labeled "Spyderco" on the tag but I suppose it could be a knockoff. If you guys don't think of anything I'll give an update after I go back tomorrow, but I'd be wary of buying it without more info. The store certainly wasn't a junky, flea market type place but you never know...

Edit: noticed the "Fakes and Knockoffs thread". I'll look through it and see if there's anything similar to what I saw in the store.

The Kiwi SlipIt is the only knife Spyderco has ever offered with stag scales. The knife you saw could be a fake, although I can't recall seeing one with stag scales. It could simply be mis-marked on the tag. The easiest way to confirm that is to check the tang stamp on the blade. Almost all Spydercos have the name written on the tang. The only two I'm aware of which do not are the "Q" and the original "R", both of which have patterns cut out in the blade and open trusswork handles. If it does say Spyderco on the tang, then the stag scales are an aftermarket modification. I've seen several different all stainless Spydercos where stag overlays had been added by someone. Models with 3" blades similar to the Endura's would be the Delica, the Standard and, to a lesser degree, the Rookie.

Could be a modified knife.

There is a sprint run delica with BONE scales, but they won't come at $75 or you must be extremely lucky:

Ahh... I wish.

I got it today. One side of the tang reads "Spyderco AUS-6 Stainless" and the other "Seki-City Japan". The box says Delica II and that appears to be correct.
An older guy gave his entire collection to the store to sell, the owner said that she didn't know their value and just estimated the prices.
Looking up prices online, $75 for a modded Delica II isn't bad (unless I've got something mixed up?), not the steal I was hoping for but not bad lol. Thanks for the help all.

I'd say your assessment is valid. The value of aftermarket modified knives is very subjective. With only rare exceptions, most collectors have no interest in them, so they tend to sell for a lot less on the secondary market than they cost the original buyer.

Delica II, that's the stainless steel handled model right? How did they make stag handles for it? Did they make completely new handles for it or is it some sort of inlays or overlays?

They somehow attached a piece of stag over the scale opposite the belt clip. There's no signs of any pins, so it's probably epoxied in place.
I don't entirely trust that method but it seems sturdy enough and looks well done.

Hey - that looks pretty good!

With modern epoxies and proper surface prep, it should be fine. Pretty smart mod!

What kind of epoxy would hold that properly?

system 3 or west system would hold that darn near forever. Just about any marine grade epoxy/resin would work.

Great mod by the way, thats a keeper for sure!
