Found this SOG while out fishing yesterday. Is it a legit SOG? How old?

Hey everyone. I'm new here.
I was out fishing yesterday and came across the knife pictured below.
The blade is just under 7". Notice no serrated edge (what era did they switch to a serrated edge?). I see the logo is different from newer ones and there is no logo on the handle. The opposite side of the blade from the logo side says "Seki Japan". It's really heavy.

Looks like a SEAL 2000 with the serrations ground off. Notice were the grind starts, much higher because of the loss of metal. The powder coating is also removed. That would be my guess.

Thanks!
I'd agree that it looks like they're ground off. I should have taken and posted closer photos of it, but I'm at work and they frown on weapons on college campuses. :) Up close you can see they've really done a number on the blade. Think it's worth saving and trying to get an edge back?

I would sharpen it and make a user out of it. It is still a good, useable knife.

East of Des Moines, Iowa at a big lake. Was just walking around the shore looking for a place to fish. I saw a knife on the ground from a distance and thought it was just going to be some cheapo knife or a filet knife. When I picked it up and realized how heavy it was then saw "SOG", I knew it was a good knife. I haven't even cleaned it up at all, this is the exact condition I found it in at 6am.

Sweet. Wish i could find something like that. Looks like it's in pretty good condition. Hopefully i'll be able to find some extra beers laying around on shore after i run out while fishing next couple days.:) Smokes wouldn't be bad either.

Nice find. For sure is a well used Seal 2000. I have one that has been well used and sharpened and the serrations are almost gone.

I would just sharpen it up and make it a sharpened pry bar. It will probably outlast all of us :)

Its toast. PM me and I will send you my address. Send it my way for proper disposal.
