Found this week

These are my finds for this week. Top. A really nice Collins in great condition. Middle. Well used but used well Kelly 'Silver eagle'. Bottom. 'Kelly Perfect'. Happy to have all of these beauties in my collection.

Love the look of the one in the middle. Looks like a Connecticut / racing axe. (My favorite pattern)

This is the Kelly perfect. The head weighs 2lb 6oz. I like the look of all that weight in the poll. This is a small axe for me so I would appreciate any suggestions for haft length.

frank, i prefer a 28" haft for an axe of that weight... kinda like a 'boys axe'...
i think that it would pair well with a haft of that length... or maybe even a straight 32" (my favorite)...

man i like that head... if i come across one of those, im going to get it if anyway possible...

I'm sure you will never be happy with any length haft on that axe. Your best bet is to ship it to your buddy, Pegs.

But if you insist on tormenting yourself with that axe then I'd put about a 26" to 28" haft on it.

I sure would like to hear more about your Kelly Silver Eagle, I collect Kellys and have never seen one here in the States. I'm wondering if it was a special model expressly made for export. I sure would like to see a picture or two of the stampings. Any chance you could give us the weight and measurements of that one?
