I've got about six pair of Superfeet in my various footwear. For about $35 a pair, I'd say they beat an expensive pair of custom orthotics. When I first began using them on the advice of my podiatrist my whole body felt better. Better posture and so forth. Maybe you should consult with a Doc. I'm not sure if they would help with your wear issues but maybe. Gadgets & Gear might be a better spot for this.

Thank you for that link, I just read all about it.
I hope those special insoles will improve my balance as well.

I do the same thing. My Danner Linemen have held up well but don't get worn all day, every day.

I wear Danner Acadias at work and when I have them resoled I have them run just a slight flare on the outside edge and the cobbler alsl uses a denser material on those sides of the heels because of my weight.

I have had orthotics in the past and still wear them in my Acadias but mainly run the Linemen as they were bought.

I'm going to take a look at those Superfeet though.

Hmmm, my feet do the same thing... compounded by the fact I blew out the lateral ligaments in one of my ankles years ago. Will look into those Superfeet insoles.

a couple years ago i put out the word at the local golf course about the good results i had using birkenstock inserts. in about 2 months, 13 people had experienced real relief; w/ their lower back, and their golf shoes. they all had troubles distributing their weight evenly on their feet. i have had custom made orthotics (podiatrist) and they are superior; but if your problem does not involve real pain, you might want to try the birk's.

also, find an honest shoe salesman and have your foot sizes checked very carefully. i was in my 30's before i looked at all my shoes and wondered why my right shoe had a very pronounced wear pattern--outside of heel worn down while inside looked new. i found that my right foot is just a bit more than a half-size smaller than my left. sorry to be so long-winded.....................b
