Finally got around to making a scale for my Foundry today.
I wasn't sure about how to go about affixing it to the knife without damaging it.
I was thinking about epoxy but was thinking there might be adhesion issues and even thought about drilling and tapping but that's another can of worms.
So while perusing some threads over on the Chris Reeve Knives sub-forum I discovered what they use for their inlays. A double sided tape.
It's an ultra high adhesion tape and pretty much the same that the automotive industry uses to affix moldings to cars. Believe me this scale isn't going anywhere. I can't budge it at all.
The scale is Olive Abyss ShokRes and has some incredible depth and colors with a metallic glint. Very nice after a polish.
And for those that weren't thrilled with the Carpenter logo... it's gone now.
Also gave it a much better grip and overall feel in hand being thicker.
I'm sure the tape will hold just fine but I'm still thinking of permanently mounting the scale with screws. Maybe after I use it for a while I won't be as concerned about drilling a couple of holes.
Thoughts?
I'll get some more pictures for sure...
