top -- very nice heavy (pound and a half) 15 inch BAS by Sher. It's go the Sher "almost convex" edge and I really can't see why Yangdu stuck it in the blem box but you know the story. If Yangdu says it's a blem then it's a blem. Fine rig overall. Maybe you can find out why Yangdu says it's a blem when you take it home for $60

no 2 -- a pound and a half BAS by Sher's brother, Kumar. Good work and with the Kumar "almost convex" edge, too. You can tell these guys are brothers by the work they do. The only thing I can see that might be wrong with this entire rig is a very small crack (1/4 inch) that's so tight super glue won't help. Near perfect rig for $60.

no 3 -- 26 ounce 16.5 WWII by Sher. Two items -- small crack in handle near buttcap -- superglue fix. 1/4 inch fold line near tip -- cosmetic only. Otherwise 10/10 work by Sher. Beautiful rig which should do the job for 100 years. Delivered to your door for fifty bucks off regular -- $75

no 4 -- Dead on spec 16.5 inch 1.5 pound WWII by Bura. Perfect job by the old Master. Only thing I can see that got this into the blem box is the horn has shrunk a little and there's a small gap between horn and buttcap. Fill it with epoxy or VERY carefully take a hammer and tip the edges of the buttcap to snug it up. Otherise perfect and one of the best kardas I've seen this year. Take this excellent WWII home for a fifty buck saving off regular -- $75.

Call or email to get any of these 99% perfect khukuris at great prices.

Very nice WWIIs. The Carda on #4 is really nice. Wish we would see more like it.

That top BAS by Sher has an almost M43'ish curve to it?
Or is it just an angle and lighting effect?

So, you plinked with your German Mauser 98 a World War Two version khukuri. Very good shooting.

when i first jumped at it i was thinking of the functionality of it. then i realised "hey! this would go real great with my ww2 rifles!" =)

I've never held a WWll 16". The 18" is just about my favorite Khukuri.

What WWll rifles do you have?

i got a yugo reconditioned german kar98k, m91/30, turk mauser, and svt-40

now i really need to get that no4 lee enfield to keep this knife company =)

Those all shooters, or do some sit?

I have two Nazi 98's replete with swastikas, not with all matching serial numbers or anything, and I've 'sporterized' them if you can call my ugly ducklings sporty. A 35 Whelen and a heavy barreled .308

I've owned wonderful Brownings and a Ruger, but over time trades and circumstance lost the pretty ones and left me the shooters. Got a FN after-war Mauser in 30:06 that isn't bad looking. A 30 carbine too.

What's a svt 40? Not the Russian bolt? You must know the fine points- I can't get all the abbreviations.

I do want to ask if you trust the Turk Mauser with 50,000 cup? Those things sold so cheap, the crudeness was OK with me but wondered how strong they were and a lot of varience too..last three years the markets been full of good Mausers, even the vz 24's were affordable. I shoulda picked up a box of recievers for the hell of it.

evil sporterizing bastage! lol j/k
not my way but to each there own atleast we both enjoy the shooting sports =)

yep all my rifles are shooters i figure whats the point in having something that cant be used.

I'm pretty big into ol' military firearms so sometimes i just assume everyone is too =p sorry about that.

the m91/30 is also known as the Mosin Nagant or "three line rifle" the m91/30 basicly just means its the ww2 version thats been rebarreled. its the russain bolt action rifle of ww2

the SVT-40 is a russain semi-auto rifle of ww2 it uses ten round detachable mags and shoots the same big round as the m91/30 (7.62X54R) pretty good size round i'd say compairable to the other rounds of the time 30-06/ .303 / 7.92X57JS (or 8mm mauser) its operation is kinda similar to an SKS but its a heck of alot bigger its the same length of a turk mauser/m91/30 ect unlike a garand. before the war the russains wanted to arm there whole army with these but they werent sucessful seems that russain conscripts didnt take the time to learn the weapons well enought to make them relayable.. however the germans that captured them felt they were just fine =P

Turk mausers may be cheap but they are far from cheaply made if you understand what i'm geting at... there a Mauser no doubt about it and mausers 98 action spells qaulity best bolt action ever made... heck look at most all modern bolt action rifles they are using mauser's classic 1898 action. turk mausers may be real dirty when you getem but with some love and a good home they really shine =)

Yes, know the Mosin Nagent and the round, but never saw a Russian svt 40. If you'd asked me 15 years ago if people would ever care about the Nagent I'd of said no, but today they collect them like crazy. Well, there's nothing else around... but it's strong.

Your interest in the era and the svt 40 must be lot of fun.

Welcome to the cantina, 98k. :)

I also have a Mosin Nagant, and they're loads of fun. Bought mine a couple of years ago when a friend and I went to "just look" around a big gun shop in Birmingham. I ended up coming home with a Mosin Nagant in quite good shape with matching numbers and about 200 rounds of ammo for $50. Great value! I think mine is from Tula Arsenal, but don't remember exactly. It's at my parents' house now, so I can't check.

The SVT-40 sounds like a neat rifle. IIRC, it was originally a sniper rifle. The call-letters would also suggest this: they stand for "snaiperskaya vintovka Tokareva" or "Tokarev sniper rifle", similar to the later SVD by Dragunov (which I also have). :D :D

I've shot a Mauser before, also. I'd love to have one, but don't have the money now.:( Actually I'm an Enfield fan. I have a No. 5 Mk 1 that I just love. It's great when you can get 5 aimed shots off in 15 seconds with a bolt action. :D

Hope you enjoy the khukuri, but I'm sure you will! ;)

munk, you made a 35 whelan? I had an 03A3 rebored by Atkinson ( once upon a time Atkinson and Marquart developed the 475 A&M on the 460 Weatherby case ) and chambered for the 35 Brown Whelan. Neck 270 case up straight, back down to 35 with a short neck and fireform into an improved but shoulder blown forward case.

98k, welcome to the Cantina, your gonna love your knew khuk. I got a Mauser copy and I don't know what country it is from. I left it all stock and I like to shoot it when I can get a good deal on ammo. Can you give me any help?

thanks for the welcome fellas :)

Bobwhite-i'm not a super expert on all the mausers out there yet but i'll give it a shot if you can post a picture of it.

if its chamberd in 8mm mauser look into getting some turk surplus ammo comes in 70 round bandoliers on stripper clips. should cost about 4-6 bucks per bandolier. i bought a box of them the other day, came out to 6cents a round. it is corrosive though so make sure you clean the barrel/boltface asap after shooting and dont let it sit. some folks say they clean it with hot soapy, water others use amonia, i like to use windex.
