The UBE has always appealed to me. I used to have one, don't remember who I gave that one to or why now that I ponder it some.

I have the American Disabilities Act version of the Panmeary including handicap ramp. She's a beauty. I keep that one under glass, it's special but sure feels good in hand.

Is the Kumar blade heat treated and forged the same as his using blades? Did he hand engrave the blade?
If so I'll buy!

My understanding is that all HI blades are differentially hardened, so the cutting edge is harder for holding an edge and the spine softer for greater strength. Khukuris are hardened around the belly of the blade, which is the sweet spot for chopping, and HI swords are hardened along the full length of the edge. The tip of a khukuri is left relatively soft so it doesn't break in case of accidental contact with something hard (such as a pebble embedded in a log). I believe there's an article somewhere on the HI web site that shows this in vivid colors, but I don't know exactly where. Maybe someone else can provide a link.

As for engraving, I don't know who did it or how it was done. However, when you mention the name of the kami you should distinguish between Ram Kumar, who is relatively new to HI, and Kumar, who started out young but by now is an old hand and one of the most expert HI kamis. (Two models are named after him, the Kumar Kobra and the Kumar Karda.) The top two blades in this posting are by Ram Kumar, who has been doing a lot of work for HI recently.

Ram sure is doing some great stuff. That Panameary has a handicap ramp installed Bawanna! ...Uh nevermind! George is way too fast for us old fartz!

Please someone buy the Anil AK. Save me.

*whispering* ...it's just one more....what's the harm?

Sidenote, it took me way too long to realize that was a second pic of the BAS. Guess I was just locked in on the UBE.

ndog if you want that knife, you can have it. I'm over my head!
Naw! As nice as it is im still lookin at that Kora! Just cant get it outta my haid! Thank you sir that is noble of you tho. Ive already written Aunti about six times for it but just cant hit the send button yet. I think im gonna buy me a twelve pack or a bottle of single malt this weekend then I know it will be mine. Reason and rational thinking is just completely overrated sometimes and you just have to have a higher power to guide you sometimes;)

Great snag on the BAS!!! That's a good looking example.
Thanks, I'm excited to purchase my very first HI blade!

Thank you, I'm excited to purchase my first HI blade! I'm super new to HI, so I'm wondering should I send my card number over email or will I be notified when and how I should pay for everything? Thanks!

If you get it Yangdu will send you an email usually beginning with Done Deal.
She should then tell you the shipping cost. Then and only then it's best to Pay Pal her that total.
If you don't do Pay Pal it might be best to call her and provide CC info over the phone.
At times someone will slip in and grab a knife first without posting here. Then you get the long gone message.
Hopefully you got it or she has another similar to it to offer. Being your first we need to make this happen.
