I intend on on making these working knives.
I have just come to know HI, in just the past couple of weeks. I have been researching Khukuris for about 2 yrs, and had been skeptical of the "other" Mfg's. I found HI through a post on AR15.com/Forums (I'm mostly a gun guy), I was pleasantly surprised to find you here in Reno, Best of both worlds help "two" home towns!
I must comment on the HI Forum, very nice folks hang around here, infomative and pleasant. Not the typical "Forum Flamming Folks" I'm used to seeing other places.

Thank you very much,

Greg, aka: Superintendent

Superintendent,

Welcome to HI and Forum

Welcome aboard Superintendent/Greg. It is a nice place here at the Forum. Whole lotta information to be gleaned over the last 11 years. Hopefully you've already read the Safety Sticky "...REQUIRED READING!". Otherwise, have a lot of fun working your new khukuris.

I'm a little envious though. You can hop in your car and pick up your blades without having to wait or worry about shipping damages. Better yet you'd get to see Yangdu in person, you lucky dog.

Rick

Yeah, Greg, this place is nothing like Arfcom at all...

Welcome to the grfoup and make sure you get inoculated or when you get your new Khuks you are sure to have HIKV!

No such thing as an inoculation or cure my friend... even when you think your case of HIKV has vanished, all it's actually done is gone into remission (in my case, aided by being a near-consistently broke college student). To prove my point though:

Hopefully I don't get too attached to it when it arrives so that I can actually give it away as a gift - wish me luck! :p

Had to do some last minute car fix since my other car died.....

Or that last one would be mine. Looks great for a slicer/kitchen knife.

And that M-43..... that would be perfect for a set of G-10 or Micarta scales. A great hard use khukri.

Not helping my case buddy :p

Must... resist... urge... to hang onto... khuk I just purchased. Picked it up as an eventual gift for someone in the future, not for a kitchen knife (as amazing as it would be for the task). I guess there's no harm in using it as such until a birthday or other celebration turns it into a gift :o

:) good luck with that killa!

Haha - thanks man!

FYI guys, I think Auntie might have been in a rush on marking these sales - I purchased the 13" AK w/o a kami mark yesterday and the 11 3/4" got marked as SOLD slightly thereafter. I believe the 11 3/4" AK is actually the one still available - and boy does it ever look like a steal ;)

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome. I am excited about getting my hands on the 1st of my Khukuri collection (as if I need another hobby/addiction ;)) I am confident that the blems can be easily remedied.

I was able to pick up the two new additions (actually the the first Khukuri's) this past Monday morning.
They are a sight to behold & handle :D :
18 inch 35 ounce M-43 by Lok Kami.
15 inch 24 ounce BAS by young Sher Kami.

A trip to the local Feed store produced a hoof/horn/nail treatment that I'm going to try on the handles. We'll see how it works, then I'll post some before & after pics/report.

Even more endearing than the knives themselves, was the opportunity to sit with Yangdu and visit. While we sat, we were served tea & cookies(we = my 7yr daughter & I), we looked at knives, talked about our backgrounds, etc. Yangdu even blessed my daughter with a gift, of which my daughter has not let go of since, even sleeps with it :).

Relecting on our short visit, I am convined that if you were to look up "Grace" in the dictionary, there would be a picture of Yangdu. ;).

Thank you
Greg

P.S. One minor issue...I have this wierd feeling that two KhuKuri's are not enough. Probably nothing to worry about, I'm sure it will pass...:D....lol...

She is a sweetheart to speak with on the phone as well. Aren't you twice as lucky that you get to meet her in person and have tea with her.

Thank you for the kind words, Superintendent
