I've heard a reference to Camillus blades with a four line tang stamp. When was the four line stamp used, vs. the three line stamp?

I haven't a clue. But I do have a suggestion.

If you don't get an answer in this forum, try asking in the Camillus Forum. It might take a couple of days, but I bet you'll get your answer.

the 4 line stamping is really old' maybe the oldest. i'm sure the guys will have your answer soon. i've seen pics of 4 lines on the forum.

I was looking at a four line rope knife in an online auction and asked the same question another forum. I was told that the knife I was looking at was a "lifeboat" knife from ww2 and that the mark was used until the end of the war or around that time.

Regards

Robin

The Camillus 4 line stamp was used from about 1919 to 1946. Until 1941 all blades were marked with the stamp, from 41 to 46 just the master blade.

I just bought this one off the 'bay. Most likely paid too much, as I'm a newb and don't always know a)what I'm looking at or b)what it's worth.

Anybody got any ideas on a or b?
