I guess these funny little knives are traditional, so I'll try posting here.
I recently left my Opinel #8 with my brother while I was traveling. I figured it was better to leave it with him than lose it to TSA or the garbage can in the airport. To replace my beloved 8, I purchased the knives below. After all, my #8 had a patina that I had worked hard on, ha.
I don't know which one will be my favorite. The 10 is hand filling and will get some kitchen work. Actually, they may all get some kitchen work. The Coghlans can be pinched open. I kind of like that. And the six is a cute little thing. I can't see it ever scaring anyone at work. And the 8 is always great. Funny little knives, but they are just as addictive as other knives to me.

You have obviously come to the wrong forum to talk about Opinels. Just kidding of course, as probably most of the regulars on here have at least one in their collections. Nice set of "Opies" you have there. I have never seen a Coghlan's other than pictures on here, but like the shape. I have two in my stable, a #6 that is my constant companion now days, and a #8 that is in standby for heavy duty Barbecue duty. Great simple design that works extremely well, and like the pink bunny, keeps on going, and going!

Blessings,

Omar

Per the Coghlan's web site they have #7, #8 and #9 size Opinels with carbon steel blades in their offerings with the tapered handle. No #10s from them. Only the standard Opinel Beechwood handle with the end flare is offered in the #10 carbon or stainless blades, and not by Coghlan's. I have the Coghlan's #7 and am ordering the #9.

Opinels are great knives. I use an Opinel Slimline #8 in the kitchen and sometimes carry a #6. A regular #8 always goes with me when I go camping.
