Opening line in this LA Times news story:
"If you have stabbing pains in the head, maybe it's because you were stabbed in the head."

Article title:

Saw this story on the news today, too.

Still can't believe it, not that much steel for that period of time, where it was located.

Truly amazing.

it looks like, from the side view in the video in the linked page, that it entered such that it was behind but not blocking the oral cavity and was just short of the brain, also missing the eye, so did not affect his eating or breathing but was uncomfortable. guess it was not visible to the original doctors and the entry wound appeared to be minor as it did not cut any noticeable blood vessels....

a lucky man, even luckier to have it found & taken out before it killed him.

This has a commercial written all over it.

There's pain---- and then there's Excedrin pain.

Interesting how the blade broke off so perfectly straight across, and how much damage there has been to the blade.
Guess the guy didn't have any dental x-rays for four years.

LOL!

I'm surprised an infection didn't kick in and kill him.

I'm guessing he didn't play football on the weekends. One good tackle could've ended it all.

Lucky, considering.

In a tv news report I watched, the guy involved say that he had been having headaches!!!

One seriously lucky dude both to survive the initial attack, then the time it was embedded in his head and finally the operation to remove it!!!

I heard years ago about this guy who was mugged, and knocked out. Woke up, dusted himself off and went home and treated assorted scratches and scrapes. Started having headaches days later, and (I'm not sure how long afterwards) went to the doc and had x-rays taken. They found 4 or 5 .22 shells lodged in his brain! Obviously the mugger shot him while he was unconscious and he wasn't awake to hear it. Ouch...!
