Made my first Damascus Piece

I have very intentionally avoided making damascus blades for the longest time because I really wanted to concentrate on design and fit/finish before going down the embellishment road

I just got my hydraulic forging press set up a couple weekends ago and decided to take the plunge and try one.

let me know what you think

7" Fighter blade
1084 / 15n20 High layer count blade (was supposed to be W's but I accidently turned the billet 90 degrees, whoops, I can ladder the rest of the billet an it will turn out fine)

Caramel Micarta Handle (cause I'm gonna BEAT this one up a lot testing it, didn't wanna waste premium materials)
SS double guard

VERY tapered blade, light and quick

Decent shot of the pattern, LOTS of Chatoyance (shimmer)

That's a good looking piece - I particularly like the blade shape. I'd sure like to see one with maybe a damascus guard and blackwood handle.

You did good.........that Damascus is TIGHT.........great job,

Nice next step. I know your blades are real thick and I bet it would hold up nicely.

Stephan, I love your work, and this is no exception!
Thanks for shareing! Looks to be a great first damascus effort despite your admitted mistake!

Stephan you are making great looking knives:thumbup:

Looks awesome, bro. Can't wait to hear how it takes some abuse!

You're still ugly, tho.

guess I'll just give it to Kevin

That's okay - he owes me a few, anyhow, so it'll still end up coming to me!:D

I don't think I qualify for NABS anymore, as I broke the 160 pound mark earlier this year. Of course, I guess I still have no ass...

Wonderful work on the damascus. I dig the lines of the knife, too!
