I'm looking for info on this Italian maker, this model, and for names of retailers in the US other than AG Russell.

The knife in question, the Fox Hunter's Bowie, model #602-CE, is a 6-3/8" California-clip Bowie with European Stag scale-type handles on a tapered tang. The manufacturer's web site claims 440B stainless, AG Russell says 440A.

Russell has the knife for $145, but given that they're usually 10-20% higher than other outlets, I'm hoping I can find a different retailer. From what little I've been able to find online, Fox Coltellerie is regarded as a good maker of "user" knives in Italy and Europe, but is virtually unknown in the US.

Can anyone shed more light on this knife, or point me to another source for them in the US? Would one of our European bretheren be willing to tell me what these knives sell for across the pond?

Thanks in advance,

Fox used to be imported by Catocin in MD. It was not as popular stateside as it should have been. Check with Delta Z, I think he is importing or having knives made by Fox.

ParaGlock - You might want to contact forumite Falcenberg, who knows a thing or two about Fox knives. I think you'll find his e-mail address under his profile.

Hmmm... Thanks for the replies, so far.

Catocin ("Catoctin", maybe?) Knives doesn't seem to exist, at least on the web. Web searches come up null. Or pointing to campgrounds in Catoctin County.

I ran across DeltaZ before, but they only seem to carry 4 models of Fox knives, and the one I want isn't among them. Maybe it warrants an email to the owner.

I'll contact Mr. Falcenberg. Thanks for the tips.

I finally got a reply back from Fox: "A.G. Russell carries this knife. Thank you." Um... yeah.

Paraglock, I tracked down Fox in Italy via email. They gave me pricing + shipping for a model I was interested in (Stag one-hand skinner folder with clip).

The price of the knife was approximately $55 US. The shipping was going to be $22 US. No thanks I said.

I called AG Russell - they quoted me $55 for the same knife and then regular UPS shipping costs. So I have to say here they are the only game in town and are charging MSRP, so no big mark up per se.

Check out International Cutlery from Knives to Go,and World knives. The
Knives to Go website has a larger selection of the Italian knives.
