Fox Karambit

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask but I was wondering if anyone knows what metal the liner lock is made of. The 599.

I had the 599 last year... after pre-paying for it... waited four months for it from "that web site" which was an absolute abysmal experience.
After I received the 599, I sold it several weeks later.
The scale under the clip had to be sanded down as both scales come literally rougher than coarse sandpaper, un-sanded the scale would have shredded my pants quickly.

From my personal experience, the worst aspect of the 599 was the fact that the pivot was insanely tight... lubricating several times had no effect, loosening the pivot screw still had no effect... in fact, even after removing the pivot screw completely from the knife... the pivot remained unacceptably tight, that's right.. even with the screw completely removed!
Finally in a last attempt to to loosen it, I took the 599 completely apart, lightly sanded every single contact point with fine sandpaper, re-assembled the knife and absolutely no change, the abysmally tight pivot remained.
To have a 'flipper' on the blade together with the Emerson Wave feature is pointless if when the 'flipper' is pressed.... nothing opens because the pivot is too tight.
The only positive thing about the 599 is that the Emerson Wave worked.

So to answer your question, unfortunately I don't know and the fact that the answer isn't given anywhere on the internet.. including the one site that hawks it says a lot in my opinion.

A pic showing how I had to sand down the scale under the clip.

Don't know for sure, but probably 410, or a 420 series steel. I have a Fox/Citadel Deimos that uses a linerlock, and after countless openings when just sitting around , the liner has not moved one bit from the original lockup point. Is that what youwant to know about?

Ghet the 479, SS liners and g10 handles, much better quality, I'm pretty sure the 599 wasn't supposed to be sold anymore because of the defects(hence why it's only available from one site)

Hmmm you got me thinkin now, cuz I just plopped down $140 for a 599. My experience with "that website" has been less than stellar to this point. Seems like the more layers I peel away, exposing that unnamed online seller, the less confidence I have in this whole transaction. Now you're telling me the knife itself is suspect....yikes

It's important to understand that the model 599 is nothing like any other Fox model/s of Karambit in size or design.
The 599 is touted as being sized "s/m", with a shorter blade length and in my opinion is best for someone with small hands, someone with medium sized hands can most likely use it, but in my opinion it's sized perfectly for "small" hands.
I wear a size small glove and the 599 was a perfect fit.

Unfortunately the "site" requires "pre-payment" as the 599's are never in stock for MONTHS, and what eventually comes into stock from Italy goes first to the "pre-payers" that waited for MONTHS before you.
And meanwhile.... during those MONTHS you are waiting for your 599... you keep seeing the 599 being "given away free" on the sites Facebook page
in the tipical "free givaways/contests" that are nowadays common.

So for me, not only was the entire experience with "that site" and the severe lack of communication skills via the Wizard Of Oz that controls everything absolutely horrible, but upon finally receiving the 599 four months later and it turning out to be basically worthless was a waste of time and hard earned money.

My takeaway lesson: any knife that is "hyped up" and purposely made to be not easily obtained, then sold by "only one person" a.k.a. a dealer that's allowed to sell it.... and not only do they not have it, but ask you to "pre-pay" for one (or you won't get one), then make you wait four or more months (in which during that time you see the knife being given away free on the sellers Facebook page), two words: steer clear.
