Fox Knives from Italy

I've seen their knives at various gun shows and my friend has a folding hunter. Decent to good quality depending upon the model, they make a range of price/quality knives. I think spyderco and agrussell may use them for contract work.

My dad brought me back a tiny Fox gentlemen's folder from a trip to italy. It has a nice damascus blade. Fit, finish and sharpness were all very good. I don't tend to use it a lot so I can't speak to edge etc. Its more of a dress up suit knife.

I have some Fox, pretty good knives I´d say. The only thing that I don´t like is their liner lock, not reliable.

Welcome to Bladeforums! :)

Fox made the Hossom Retribution folders for Ontario and the Hossom fixed blades for Spyderco. These all have similar green Micarta handles and N690 blades.

I don't know which Fox liner lock Allex didn't like, but my Retribution has a liner lock so thick it looks like a framelock. Altogether it's a seriously overbuilt and frankly oversized folder. High quality work.

They've made a number of knives that A.G.Russell carries under their own name.

Maybe the quality has varied over the years depending on their market goals.

But some of the top stuff is very good and may rival the Japanese counterparts.
This is "solid" damascus not a laminate. The liner lock is thicker and stronger than my Mcusta, imo.

the Spyderco Volpe and Ontario Hossom Retribution2 folder I have are of excellent build quality

I am interested in the knives from this manufacturer. Can anyone tell me about them?

i have a small folder with olive wood handle. Short blade with choil. Liner lock works securely. Stop pin is hidden by blade tang.

My wife used to throw it into the lavatory and dryer after that and it came out shining. No damage nothing.

Er, you wife seems to have a strange attitude to knives:eek:

The Retribution folders have liners that are .125" thick, or 1/8th". Those liners are as thick as a lot of large folders blades are, and that my friend is THICK!:D I've had a couple of them, both the large and the medium, and those locks were absolutely bomb proof. When that liner slid over it was there to stay until you decided to push it out of the way to close it yourself. That is why I like stiff liners and why I think them unlikely to fail by slipping off the tang.

I have both of the Hossom Retribution folder’s and I use the Retribution 1 almost every day. Both of those knives are so over built that you just have to love it and the biggest one fits my hand like a glove. Fantastic fit and finish, bullet proof knives. The handles were designed so well that you can use the knives for long periods of time without any hotspots whatsoever.
Highly recommended!
