A buddy of mine found the website below and passed it along...
http://www.fkmdknives.com/

Not sure how recent it is, but the mainstream FOX Cutlery website did not list the Military knives... the good stuff! I was able to pick up a FOX Golok a while back and must say, I like it.

And of course on the new website they list a few models that I have not seen before: FOX O.M.G. KAIMANO and DERESPINA KUKU HANUMAN. OMG is right!

Anyone seen these available? Or better yet own one and have any opinions?

With these cool looking knives & decent steel (N690Co) I am surprised that FOX does not have a bigger presence here in the US.

In the land of red Ferraris and hot Lolitas; I adore the Italians for their sense of style no matter how cumbersome fashion sense might seem to over complicate things.
Wanna guess who's real given name this is "Sofia Villani Scicolone" (think silverscreen)?

Going out on a limb here, but Sofia Loren maybe?;)

Thanks for those links, 3 Guardsmen. The "Trakker" was funny, in the fact that it bears more than a passing resemblance to the Tom Brown Tracker. Needless to say, I won't be buying anything from Fox.:thumbdn: However, I think I just found a new favorite knife company to make fun of.:D

Wow. Honestly, this is not why I started the thread. I do really like a few of the knife designs. I own a Golok and must say, the knife and sheath is well constructed and has a good feel to it.

Relative to the steel choice, I had inquired into this one and after hearing...
IMO N690 is very good steel, and most people who have tried it have been pleased with its performance. I would score its edge holding as a bit better than 440C and its toughness quite a bit better. VG-10 would probably be an apt comparison.
... decided to try out the Golok.

Opinions are like... but that is the fun of the forums. Enjoy and thanks for not contributing to my initial questions.

Well I think they have some pretty neat designs. As far as similarities go I guess thats why so many knife companys make assisted openers, lockbacks, framelocks, liner locks, pocket clips, thumbstuds, etc, etc. I doubt every one happened to develop these completely on their own. I don't think their web page was over the top with "covert deanimation" stuff so I don't think the Dark Ops comparison is applicable.

Variety is the spice of life. I definetly saw some designs there that I've never seen but liked. I also saw a few that I didn't care for. About like any other companies offerings some I like some I don't.

As far as N690 steel. Benchmade used it in a few Red class knives on the first 500 or so and I've read that it is a pretty good steel in Tactical Knives magazine.

Fox also made the Hossom collaborations for Spyderco and Ontario if memory serves me correctly.

They carry some of the Fox line at www.michiganknives.com but they are out of my price range.

Is the website some kind of eye test? If so, I failed ... the black page background made it almost impossible to read anything without straining close up. So much for the vaunted Italian design sense.

Some of the knives look all right, and the steel is certainly good. I didn't see prices, though.

The Derespina Kerambit is about all I would even think about from them.

I'd sooner by an original piece made by the man him self though.

Carlo Ponti would be so proud!
The point is, cultural differences do bring about in the world, a diverse chain in the creative thought process and final end-product.
So just what inspires Italian design?
It could be savouring the delights of natural beauty, whilst sipping pot wine and smoking American cigarettes.
And what of knife designs to capture the imagination?
Try to do popular American with a seemingly superfluous Italian flair. <lol>
Viva Italia!

looks like someone locked Jared from Mantis , LT from CS and Dork Ops in the same room together and said , here design us something ..... another knockoff company enters the fray.

N690 - a great steel by all accounts - is used in a number of Italian knives. Fox, it appears, are contenders for the spot previously occupied by Extreme Ratio and Dark Ops - overbuilt, over-styled, and proud of it. There's a new whipping-boy in town and its name is FOX. I just have to get one!

In fact, that N.E.R.O. Nighthawk is making me wet... Oh, no, wait - I just spilled my Scotch down my pants...

Price is irrelevant when Italian Style is involved! Do you go into the Lamborghini dealer and ask how much they cost? 'Course not! Suck it up, man. Black works well for Italians.
