Someone had posted a picture of a fox-nhound damascus that was about $25.00. It actually looked nice. Has anyone had any experience with these, or with Fox-n-Hound generally?

I know that they are pretty inexpensive, but are they "inexpensive" ala Byrd and SAKs, or are they "cheap" like Frost or some other knock off.

I know I'm not getting any super duper knife for 25 bucks, but it looks nice and if its decent would be more than adequate for the cutting string, paper and attacking bubble pack that I do with a pocket knife.

Thanks.

Hmm , first time I've heard of them.

Made in Italy , they look decent on pic. But how can they be priced so low ?

Here you go order one and let us know about your experience. (doubt they have very good or even real damascus, but at least they aren't much $ to find out) The picture looks a little "fishy" to me as the fold lines stop a good bit before the edge.

I had hoped to call upon the collective wisdom of the group, to see if there were other opinions, but if called upon to sacrifice and buy another knife, I may have to. :)

Fox n Hound has some fairly good quailty Italian knives made by Falcon and or AKC in Italy, but the model in the picture is made for them in China. I have the stag stainless steel version of them that I got on close out for $10 from SMKW, and they are a bargin at that price.

They are priced that low because of the owner of SMKW.
Fox and Hound is one of the lines that Smoky owns and they have them made.

My new policy is, if the retailer isn't going to give any info on their products, I'm not going to buy them. Very few here would buy a folder or fixed-blade knife without knowing about the quality of the blade, and yet you've got a company that doesn't have even a website selling knives with absolutely no specifications except for length and handle material. There's no RC listed, no country of origin, no number of layers, nor do we know if they're full tang or not.

You can't tell much about a knife just by looking at a photo of it. Smokey Mountain and other exchanges are remiss in not finding out about their products. Buy Bear & Son or some company that publishes some specs.

This Bear & Son folder is made in Alabama and has 512 layers and an RC of
about 58.
