Look's pretty lightweight... =D

Methinks you could delimb a moose with that thing!

Nice design. The handle looks comfortable and ergonomic and I like the photo in the sand showing its versatility to do other things like dig.

It looks like you can skin with it if you choke up on the blade, have you tried it? If so is it heavy and awkward or does it work for that also?

I like the light stick holder but a knife this versatile should come with a sharpener also. Great idea overall.

Is the blade only about 6.5"? Is 170mm correct? and about 13" overall?

I like it! I'd prefer a pointier design in a chopper that short, myself, but it'd be a moot point if it was longer. :)

Hi. Blade was designed to skin small and medium games, and the knife its'n heavy to do it.
The Fox Parang 6" is furnished with a survival kit pretty good and complete, but which doesn't had a sharpener.
You're right, the blade is 170 mm :-)

I have a Fox 691 Kabar clone that is really a quality knife. I would like to get some more Fox models but dont see them alot in the US. I like that knife if I came across one adn the price was right I would snatch it up.

is there any dealer in the US that we can order these knives from? i have not had any luck finding one.

Hi martineden. Pretty sweet design. Sorry for the delay, I realize it's an older thread. But I do have a question about the "black Idroglider" coating you presumably specified when you designed the Parang 6". Why did you specify this particular (Teflon) coating and what are the characteristics that you liked? Why not, say, TiNi? Fox on their website offers us no specific - or even general information on what is presumably their own proprietary blade coating! Most well-known knife manufacturers, proud of their products, are pretty good about sharing such info, many actually providing databases or glossaries of technical terms applying to their particular knives. Maybe that is why Fox knives are so little-known and hard to find in the US of A!

The point is many members are quite knowledgable about knife topics such as various types of metals, various handle materials, types of locking designs and even types of sheath materials! We literally study it! But there is vitually no information available on this coating - not even on the various Fox sites, and it's their product! I can not only read all about the blade metal - in this case, N690Co and its HRC, 58-60, but I can learn where it is made (Austria) and even the specific manufacturer. Do you know why Fox doesn't offer this type of specific information and since you have designed a knife for them employing this "Idroglider" coating, can you share with other members any technical info such as the correct name, manufacturer (Dow?), characteristics including hardness and longevity, and any relevant websites you would care to suggest. Oh, and why you chose to coat your Parang 6" blade with black Idroglider. Thank you.

Sorry, I missed this. This knife has my attention! One of our Beckerheads recently did a review/comparison of this piece with a few others over on the Becker subforum.

Nice design. I'm just nitpicking here: at 6" it would be called a Golok in Indonesia. It's not typically called a Parang until it's about 12" and longer.
