Gang, I'm on my sis-in-law's computer and I won't be back up and running for at least another week, maybe a few days longer.:(
But I wanted to make a couple of posts so we ran up here so I could do so.:)

Foxy's Follie. A Pic can be found here.

First of all 37 ounces works out to 2 5/16s pound. I agree that's a pretty heavy khuk, but we knew this one was gonna be big.;)
And it feels really blade heavy, but that's something I can take in stride as this one should be the Epitome of ALL Choppers!!!!!!!:D
My first thought upon unsheathing it was, "YES!!!! This is what a KHUKURI Should Look Like!!!!
Don't let the pic fool you. That's just the angle Bill photographed it at.
The handle does have a nice curve to it, although a gentle one, it's enough to make the khuk appear as a full flowing arc. I Likey!!!!
I placed it spine down on my computer desk and rocked it from the tip to as far back as I could on the handle.
It makes a full arc with about the same amount of steel to desk contact all along the spine.
The edge shape is perfectly formed and with the fullers and the full curve of the spine it is one of the most beautiful khuks I have Ever Seen!!!!
This is what I Think a khuk should look like!!!!
It also reminds me of the one the Ghorka is seen inspecting the edge on in one of the more common pix.:D
Did I say, "I Likey?!?!?!?";)
It has a little cho creep, but nothing to be alarmed about, I would've liked it back about an eighth of an inch, but it's much better than those that have two inches between the bolster and the cho!!!!
Gang, the only things that I am disappointed about is the lack of a convex edge up to the first fuller and the fact that it came absolutely DULL!!!!
I mean the edge is about a 1/32" wide!!!! BUT, this khuk has the longest sweet spot I've ever seen!!!! and the edge is HARD!!!!
I've been feeling poorly the last few days off and on again, but when I get a chance and am feeling well enough to run my belt sander this khuk is getting at least a convex edge even if I can't get it clear up to the fuller.
The fullers are deep and very well executed!!!! Bura really outdid himself on this khuk!!!!
Anyone who has signed up for this khuk will Not Be Disappointed IMO!!!!:D

Now if this was a 17" to 18" khuk I would have to say it would be perfectly ideal for most of us.
I didn't take the time to put my mic's to the spine, but it's about 5/16" with a nice distal taper down to 1/4" at the tip.
The beautiful fullers are what makes this khuk light enough to handle for a lot of us and I can only imagine what it would be like it my favorite length of 18 inches.

I also got to thinking that since this is Foxy's design that he should get the very first one although I'm very happy to have seen it first. So Foxy if you want this one let me know here and e-mail Bill to get my phone number as I won't have e-mail for awhile. Then give me a call and I will send it on to you.
I will wait until the next batch arrives, and hope for a slightly shorter and lighter one if I have to.
I will check back here in a few days if possible or will await your call.

I hope this is enough to satisfy y'all's questions and apologise if it isn't.
It's hell being without a computer!!!! :grumpy:

Oh, If I recall correctly the price on these was $175.00....

Good to hear from you Yvsa! Hope you are feeling better soon and get your computer back in running condition. Can't wait til the next ones show up.

Thanks for the report Yvsa. foxjaw I think that the design is great. I am glad to hear that it handles like it looks.

Yvsa, Will contact Uncle about things. Thanks for the report and good to see ya feelin better. We have to keep up the health of the Cherokee Khuk design team.

Yvsa, thanks a bunch for making the effort to post that review. Makes a lot of us glad we signed up. And, I'm sure, a BUNCH more wish they had.

Feel better. We've missed you.

That sure is one pretty khuk! Way to go foxy! Thanks Yvsa for the fine report. Good to hear from you. Hope you get back online at home soon. Also hope and pray your feeling better too!

And I'd love to have one - IF we could somehow persuade Bura (or whoever) to cut the weight by about a third. Eighteen inches would be nice, but I'd pony up cash upfront for one the present size if only the weight were cut down. Till then I'll settle for my YCS and Berk Special as examples of HI's fullered khukuris. I know the kamis can do the fullers like the old-timers - I just wish they'd try doing the thickness (thin-ness?) that was standard in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. I promise I won't break it if they do!:)

I do wish the kamis would stop worrying about their products being subjected to extreme abuse. Overengineering is fine for construction projects and such, but we're talking weapons/tools here and knowledgeable users. Otherwise, the khuk looks extremely good...love the grain in the handle.

Roger that on the weight. I made the model quite thin in hopes that the Kamis would keep the weight down, but I guess they had other ideas

I love it! I am impressed also when Yvsa likes something new like this also. I do not mind the extra thickness or weight as much as some people do. I am drawn to blades with fullers anyway. Combine that with the full forward curving design and I am hooked. My Sanu YCS is still the Khuk I would keep if I could have only one.
I have a sweet Kesar made 18" GS, a Sanu YCS, a Bura 21" Chitlangi another 21" Chit by Durba I think. Soon a Foxy Special. All I will need then for fullered HI blades is a Berk Special!:D ;)
I look forward to seeing how the new Foxy special chops. I always have a small fear though with the fullered ones because the edge can end up a little harder than the thicker blades, due I suppose to less metal behind the edge to act as a mass to draw the hardness down after the water edge cooling process. That is not always the case, but it seems to be more possible with the thinner profile right behind the edge. Either way I can't wait to get mine!!
