Hi!
Well yesterday I recvied my Foxys Folly By Kumar,

It turned up in a 3ftX1ftX1ft box, Shipped from the states 13 days back.

Customs robbed me of $60 for duty & Tax!

Luckily I got it as a blem as the original small knives were missing, But the replacments had the correct Chakma & a dubious skinny karda.

First impresion was Wow! Its an incredible piece massive, monstrous & beutefal all in one go!

20.5 in. long & weighing 3lbs. Fairly sharp except near the tip.

This has some lovely lines to it, if it wieghed half the weight it would be a incredible thing as a fighter, As it is I think it would be a great Felling axe! & Log splitter!Lovely lines to it.

Normaly I just collect old military & pre1900 civy kuks, But I wanted to see a HI piece & I liked the look of this one.

The Horn for the handle is good quality & well made about the size of an old Langopate handle.

The curve of its design & depth of its blade make it appear like an old execution kukri in my eyes.

It Could appear intimidating if brandished!

The quality of the fit & finishing is good, Would have prefered deeper fullers , ButI like it!

Do I keep it in pristine condition or adapt model & change it to suit? Original collector, original user or modified user or modified collector, Havent decided yet. Time will tell.

It isnt a fighter, but I have lots of those. It is a kukri for superheros though!

So thank you Bill, & Especialy Yangdu, & of course Foxy & Kumar.

Toghether you all made this possiblble :D

I reckon 10/10 myself!

Spiral :D ;) :D

That Khukuri sounds sweet. :) Pics man, we want pics.;) lol

Modified user & collector by all means!!!!:D
Methinks the FF will look and be wonderfully easy to maintain with a satin finish put on with the maroon Scotch-Brite pads.
The pads won't be conducive to a nice patina but will make it easy to clean off any plant material that sticks to the blade.
If you can't get the Scotch-Brite a 000 steel wool would probably work as well. You don't want it to well polished to make it look like a period piece IMO.
I'm still lusting after a 17"-18" FF in the 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 pound range with steel furniture, a shorter nicely curved wood handle, no cho creep, and no so called habaki bolster!!!!:D  :D

Probably one of the most enjoyable parts of khuks is making them yours. Modify to suit your needs. Using them will show you what you need to do to make them "user friendly". A little sandpaper and Scotch Brite pads and some time,,,:D

I say work it over till it suits your tastes. The khukuris that I love the most are the ones that I have put some real effort into. They seem to end up more important to me after hours spent together, either reshaping to my tastes or just making more comfy to use. They do really become more mine after that.;)

It was supposed to be a fighter, but I couldnt get the Kamis to make it thin like the model I made for them :grumpy:

Hi Foxjaw, Have you got an antique original you copied your model from? If so pix would be nice!

Guess if you wanted you could put the folly sides down on a 4in. belt sander upside down in a vice, lose the fullers but still wind up with an amazing profiled cleaver blade kuk for a fighting style kuk? 24 oz. would seem good to me!

I Recomend your wear hardcore body armour & trauma pack if you follow this idea though! a sander propeled FF would probably cut a 4in diameter tree in one go!

cheers,
Spiral:D
