I had made a frame handle Fighter a year or so ago in tribute to my dear friend, Larry Bailey, who was one of the co-founders of the Custom Knife Collectors Assn.
He had been after me for a couple years to do a frame handle, and after he left us, I decided to do one in his honor.
And to put a little "icing" on it, I used a piece of end-grain Spalted Maple I got from him and had in safe-keeping for something special.
Anyway, I've posted the knife before, but the owner, Ken Springer, has just recently got a nice photo of the package.
The sheath is a stunning piece by my good friend, and leather genius, Scott Teaschner.
I hope Larry is watching.

Fine tribute to a great guy. Larry was a friend to many, and I miss him.

The color palette with the maple, the blued guard and frame, and the Damascus is perfect, Karl.

Fine photo and sheath as well.

Lookin good, Karl. I agree with John, the colors look great!

Nice one Karl. Can't beat that spalted maple. I have a few pieces from Larry that I am hording away also. You gonna make it over to the Ohio Classic? I know it is a trek for you now but always enjoyed visiting with you. -Burton

Karl

I like everything about that knife - the blued fittings/blade really set off those handle scales!

Never get tired of seeing this fine knife Karl, thanks for sharing the new photo.
It brings back memories a a real 'knife person' and a great friend.

I agree with Bill, the blueing works great with the handle scales.
Superb sheath also.
Exceptionally nice tribute to Larry Bailey.

I like everything about this one Karl. The black line maple plays nicely with the damascus.

It really does bring memories of Larry back because he was VERY involved with my choosing of that material for my CKCA knife you made. Nice looking fighter and great tribute. I particularly like the combination of the DARK steels with the dark lines in the Maple.

Very nice.

What I did not notice right away was how the photographer somehow managed to match the piece of leather Scott used in his inlay with a big roll of it for the background!
How many photographers do you know have a piece of Caped Buffalo leather laying around?
