I have owned my first Kershaw knife, a ZDP-189 mini-cyclone w/Titanium Frame Lock for the past 4 months or so.And ever since I've owned this knife,I been able to push the Titanium Lock bar all the way to the other side of the handle ,very easily. Is this normal ? Also,I want to note that when it's blade is locked opened that there's no blade play at all but the lock is very easily unlocked.

Because the only other Frame lock I have is a Camillus Maxx 5.5 and it's lock bar is wedged against a 1/4 of the tang of the blade preventing any movement at all.

My ZDP-189 Mini Cyclone does the same thing. When I open it the lock covers about half the tang. I can press the lock all the way across to cover all of the tang fairly easily. I think this normal operation.

As long as there is no blade movement when the knife is locked open I wouldn't worry about it. You can always send it in to Kershaw if you want them to check it out.

My TiZDP Leek does the same thing. Not very easy, but easy. As mentioned above, if there's no blade play I wouldn't be to concerned about it. If it does concern you, just give Kershaw a call and they'll be all over it. There costumer service is 2nd to none.

The lock on mine also covers about half the tang but I also noticed that when I first got my knife, that about the first 1/2" of the edge from the tip was more flat than round.

For the past few months,I've been contemplating whether or not to send it back to have them inspect it,sharpen it ,and adjust it.Since I took it apart months ago it doesn't open as smoothly as before.I think I must of lost something because I swear that I felt something fly across my face. When I took it apart to throughly clean it and being a first time owner of a Kershaw knife not fimiliar with the AO mechanism.

Agreeing with all above. My mini-cyclone Ti/ZDP does it too. It doesn't bother me because I KNOW the blade is locked up tight. However, mine differs from razorburns. When the frame lock on mine goes all the way over, I actually have to apply some pull to the top of the blade to get the lock to release. Not a lot, but just a little tug...

If it still opens you didn't lose the torsion bar.(Thats what gives it the kick) The only other thing you could have lost and it still open would be one of the brass washers. You should have one on each side of the blade. A small one and a larger one. But the way there in there it would be almost impossible for it to fly in front of your face.

The Ramp on the TI Cyclones is cut at 7 degrees. With the stacked tolerances of all the parts it MAY be possible to push the lock bar over to the opposite side. This is normal. At no time should you notice up and down movement of the blade when in the open and locked position.

We are looking to move to a radius arc instead of the 7 degree straight ramp for future Titanium frame locks which should prevent the above from occuring.

Sincerely,

Craig.

razorburn, try adjusting the pivot screw to get it to open more smoothly. Small adjustments of the pivot is the way to go, barely turn the screw. Sometimes just applying pressure to the pivot in one direction or the other is enough to make it open smoothly.
