I've been looking for a high quality flipper. I love the Hinderer XM-18 bit I don't think I can get one at my budget. Is there anything you guys can suggest?

I bet you could get one for right at your budget limit if you try hard and get a little lucky.

You're pretty close to the going rate right now, and sometimes you can find a bargain. Keep looking in the sales forum. I recently got one at $625 with shipping and insurance included. Good luck.

Or, you could check out Will Zermeno's custom Azrael and Samaels. You can order them with flippers at a really good price. I believe the starting price for an Azrael is only $250.00.

Use the rest of the money for another knife or some gear.

I wouldn't go for the XM-18 if you're looking for the smoothest flipper. Rick himself says he didn't design the XM-18 with that in mind. As well, a Spanto grind isn't for everyone. I'd look for an IKBS flipper from another maker. I myself use an R.J. Martin Overkill, but you won't find that one in your price range. I believe Brian Tighe, Kirby Lambert, and Greg Lightfoot makes some good flippers as well. Tim Galyean also has some good flippers at a good price in his Pro Series, but I believe he stopped making those and he's no longer taking any orders.

Start researching custom makers. For that budget you can have someone make you a knife to your specs.

You should be able to just get a custom flipper for that price. It will be much better than a production flipper like the xm18. The xm18 is a nice knife for the msrp of $450.00-$500.00 but is no where near a true custom flipper you can get for $600-$700. IKBS system is the only way to go in a high end flipper. A flipper without a IKBS system should never be more than $500.00 at the most. I would save up another $100.00 and buy a true custom flipper. It will blow you away and well worth the money plus you will never loose money on a true custom flipper. They are very desirable and the waiting list for them from the top knife makers are long. Consider it a investment in a piece of art you can use.

Its well worth the wait...

haha, mystro is sold on the D. Mosier i see! :D
nice knife btw... I like it.

I'd say 600 you are open to many options, not necessary a hinderer. I agree with Noctis3880 but FYI my RJ Martin was under 600. :p

You have many options. You could go for an XM-18 with a little bit more money, you could get the gaylean pro turbulence and have some leftover money for other toys, or you could go with a host of other people who make amazing knives inn your price range. The XM-18 may be the perfect knife, but there are totally other options.

I am a bad influence. :D
