Framelocks

That would make the machining much more complicated as you wouldn't be able to cut straight up between the top part of the handle and the lower lock bar.

Here is the way Microtech handled it on the Mini SOCOM Elite Frame Lock.
A tab sticks down into a machined notch on the inside of the frame.

I don't see why instead of making the cut that produces the locking bar at a 90 degree angle to the knife handle, it could not be made at a 45 degree angle thus creating a lock stabilizer that was the full length of the lock bar.

My frame locks don't have them and I didn't even think about them till I saw this post. I learned at a very young age a knife, particularly a folder, is not a pry bar. I have always tried to avoid lateral pressure on any of my folders as much as possible.

Good for you. However, the lock-bar stabilizer was not created to compensate for what you just described. It has a much different intended purpose, one you may want to read about.

Care to suggest an article for us to read? I'm having a hard time figuring out why the stabilizer is needed.

i was fixing to say "hey my mini elite doesnt have that" but it does, mine is tip down though & the pocket clip kinda covers it up, wish mine was tip up like yours........

Like this?

The date on this one is 1/2004. Along with the tip down clip, the inlays are almost flush with the surface of the frame.
I like the way the inlays feel on this one. More grippy.
