Everything that I’ve read here and experienced from the frame locks I’ve owned says that’s normal.
I’ve never tried it but its been recommend that a little #2 pencil on the top of the lock bar will help with the stickiness problems. That or it just needs a longer break-in period.
Its actually the bottom of the lock contact not the top but I hear folks say that all the time. Many confuse the two but just so we know.
Yes its not uncommon at all. Most work in with some use. The graphite from the lead pencil trick will loosen up the contact for you hopefully for 10 to 20 openings and closings before needing reapplied. Hopefully you won't have to do that for long before the lock wears some and the blade and lock contacts mate up to each other for a smoother relationship. Right now they are just getting to know each other so give it time. If its really bad it may be one of the rare ones that requires a service call but most work out in short order.
Try disassembling and reassembling your knife. When you do, try to clean the gunk off the contacts between the lock bar and blade. It helped me a bit because it cleaned where grime would build up.
