I saw a auction on e-bay for an old folder supposedly made by and signed by Frank Buck? I know he died in '73 in a car accident ( I think) but did he make any knives?

MBj, Frank D. Buck made many knives and worked a lot along side Chuck . The Car accident took place in June, 1974 and he succumbed on July 20, 1974 . DM

The folder knife that you saw on EBAY was signed Frank Buck I think. That is sort of a little toy sold on behalf of the "Vaunted" big game hunter, Frank Buck and has no relationship to Buck Knives.

Frank Buck, Chuck's brother did indeed make knives. They were almost all custom knives and Gigantic in size.

"The Story of Buck Knives" states the following:

Frank directed the Folding Hunter Program for a time and later
became customer service manager. Tragically, however, he
died in an automobile accident in July 1974.

Here are less than perfect pictures of Frank and a picture of my Frank Buck knife.

Tele, Good supporting pictures in this post . Even a quick look at the pictures one can identify the building as a Quonset hut which was purchased and moved into in early 1961 at 3220 Congress St., San Diego . DM

this F.B. was an actor from the 30's i think and
is not the Frank Buck related to Chuck Buck
this according to BG42

I have taken a magnifying glass to the picture of the display that Frank and Chuck are posing in front of.

I suspect that the display represents the entire line of Bucks at the time.

I think that the knives are the original six (Top-120, 2nd row left-119, 2nd row right-110 [103], third row left-118, third row right-105, fourth row left-102, plus the additional in 1963, fourth row right-121, bottom 116.

Corrections gratefully accepted.

Thank all of you guys for your expertise. I thought it was a little funny to see a folder by Frank Buck. Again Thanks

Tele, I agree with you on the knives and with the presence of the 121 that would date the photo to 1963 or some later . But I think thats Chuck kneeling holding a twin set of knives in a wooden box . Can't make out the models and thats a very large bowie Frank has in his hand . Boy, have the models changed . DM

Yes, this "other" Frank Buck was a big game hunter and adventurer whose exploits were set down on film in several movies of that era.

If you search him on e-Bay you will find many collectibles relating to him.....not just knives.

:)

Tele, Studying your photo, the 118 and 121 look much wider than the models offered in the 1970's . It could just be the photograph . I'll agree with you--those are the first eight Buck models of the 60's . The Caper just made the barrel nut era and not the 121 . Also, I wish someone could identify the young man leaning over Chuck as he looks to have a white shop coat on . Interesting stuff . Thanks . DM
