Is this person talking about R.W. Loveless? Or is there a Frank Loveless?

"Another American icon in Japan is Frank Loveless, renowned for his custom knives. Loveless is so revered in Japan that when he walks into a bar, has a few beers and smokes a few cigarettes, bar owners place a glass covering the ashtray with a note saying these butts were smoked by Frank Loveless, including the date they were snuffed. No one is ever allowed to use the ashtray again-nor the bar stool he sat on. Our friend said these sacred butts and bar stools can be found in many taverns in Tokyo. Now that's respect!"

Maybe when he's over in Japan he goes by the name Frank.

I have never heard of a famous knifemaker by the name of Frank Loveless so I will assume that this fellow meant Bob.

It is definitely a mistake. Loveless is possibly even more famous and popular in Japan as he is here.

Ditto what Lifter said. The Japanese are especially fond of Loveless stag handled knives and pay ALOT of money for 'em.

As a matter of fact, I used to work in a cutlery store a few years back and had a Japanese tourist offer me $50 for the Loveless knifemaking book he saw that I was reading.

Of course I took it!

:D
