Hi-
Just received my mini-AFCK that has been "worked over" by Frank Recupero. This was my first venture outside the realm of standard factory knives, and I'm glad I had the chance to work with Frank, his service and his work are top shelf.
If I had a scanner or digital camera, I'd post a pic, but basically, it looks similar to the full size AFCK posted on Frank's image gallery at his site. The scales were redone in ironwood burl, the liners and blade spine were completely fileworked, the backspacer was replaced with a fluted green horn backspacer, and all of the steel on this knife was given a near mirror polish. Absolutely incredible in person, pictures just don't do it justice. I think the design of the AFCK is a modern classic to begin with, and with Frank's work- wow, it's a head turner.
I could get used to this custom thing, and anyone thinking of contacting Mr. Recupero should definitely do so. He's a great guy and his work just floored me when I actually got to see it up close.
Maybe I should stick to plain factory knives, my wallet's going to hurt even worse now!
