I love the look and feel of this knife, but I know almost nothing about it, or it's maker. I know Mr. Vought was from Louisiana and passed in 1995. He either owned or was a designer for Outfitter Knives but that's about it.
Does anyone have any knowledge about him or this knife? Like how old is it? What steel did he prefer? And of course, a possible resale value. I've seen smaller pieces in the $150-250 range.
Thank you for any help.

Frank was quite a character and that is one of his custom pieces as noted by his name on the blade.

He may well be one of the earliest Makers with a ‘benchmade’ line of knives marketed under his ‘Outfitter’ line. He was also one of the earlier makers of Kydex sheaths.

I would imagine the steel to be 440C and that knife is probably in the $300-$400 range since it is a custom.

Thank you! Someone shared some info with me from a book of makers. Apparently Vought used 440C, ATS-34, & D2. I have a PMI machine at work which will answer the steel question.
