frank & warren survival ax type II

I just finished reading "Across the Fence" by John Stryker Meyer. In the book he mentions carrying an ax called the "frank & warren survival ax type II" while running missions for MACV-SOG. I did some searching around on the internet to see if I could find some information on it but my searches came up dry. Anyone know anything about this ax?

Is it a type of Woodsman's Pal? That's the Type IV...

But on this page, they make reference to a Type II; and in the pic it's clearly a Woodsman's Pal:

I would say you're talking about some version of the Woodsman's Pal.

I wonder if the Type II isn't just a Type IV without the D-guard? That would seem to fit with some other stuff I read. Thanks!

Looks like a Woodmans Pal to me. The type II appears to be the wood handle model without the knuckle guard.
