Franken-Bugout from limited editions?

Hoping my last dumb question this week...

I’m trying to build a Bugout the way I want it (satin 20CV on CF Elite body). Is there any reason not to use the blade from my BHQ Grey G10? Personally I’m ok with it, but would hate to find out later I could have gotten more value from selling it and finding a 20CV elsewhere (like a custom from BM). My assumption was it would be a wash and I should just use the BHQ.

Life's too short to worry about the theoretical value of a knife. I would build the knife you want. I've done the same with some Zero Tolerance knives. Swapped with people to get the handles and blade steel that I wanted.

I did this using the Benchmade custom knife builder. It is a lot easier than cobbling two knives together. I think turn around from order to delivery was around a week or so.

That’s exactly what I’m going for! Is that GFN or did you manage to get the CF Elite? I’m tempted to just forget the CF and go for the GFN anyway, can’t say the flexing has bothered me.

I believe it is the CF Elite. It definitely has a different texture than the scales on my my 535GRY-1.

Good deal, I decided to take a chance. Honestly I wasn't keen on the idea of taking apart my Bugouts, I'm pretty handy but have an infuriating knack for messing things up too. Between that and the warranty, maybe it's less effort to do that and sell the others.

I ended up going in a slightly different direction on the custom than I originally planned, with a little more satin in the knife. I kind of like the "yin/yang" of it. And now I wait...

My custom came in last night! Just about perfect for what I'm looking for. The Axis Lock is somehow brighter or pops out visually more than I was hoping (looked more subtle in rendering), so I'm almost wishing I had stuck with black on that, but that's just a cosmetic thing and not a big deal.
