In the spirit of Dr. Frankenstein I have pieced together elements from various production Emersons in order to "customize" my knife. Hence the title Franken-Seven.

I took my waved CQC-7 blade with satin finish and plain edge and fitted it to the SOCFK handle. I also used the clip from the waved CQC-7 because it is smoother on the draw.

While the CQC-7 and SOCFK blades are nearly identical they are different. The CQC-7 blade does lock in the SOCFK handle, but the liner locks further across the butt of the blade than on the original SOCFK blade. Also, the SOCFK blade does not permit the engaging of the liner lock when fitted to the CQC-7 handle. Too bad, the Black-T finish would have looked nice against the Green G-10 handles.

My knives!

I would be very careful about mis-matching blades and handle assemblies. Just because a blade may appear to lock up nicely with a different liner lock, is no guarantee that it is secure. There are different angles and different lengths relative to the tang of the blade, the stop pin, the pivot, and the lock, and the detents.
Customizing one's knife also voids the warranty.

malazo,

Thanks for the heads-up. I suspected the potential for a mismatch from the start and was kinda driven by curiousity as much as the hope for a new knife. I was pleasantly surprised by the fit of the components between the 7 blade and SOCFK handle/liners. The lock-up is solid and actually better than on the waved 7.
As I mentioned in another posting, the lock-up on my waved 7 was solid (no play) but the liner engaged at the near edge of the tang. With the Franken-Seven the liner engegs fully to the center of the tang. The stop pin seems to be meeting the tang at the proper place.
As far as the warranty goes...
