I have a 1760BW Skyline that has grown to be one of my favorite EDC knives. Great size, great ergos, it's lightweight, nimble and lean, just like an EDC knife should be.

I've been wanting to swap the blade to the (better IMO) s30v steel and recently picked-up a used Skyline s30v Black/CF (1760s30vbcf) on the Exchange. I swapped the blades, since I much prefer the textured G10 over the smooth carbon fiber; I like the classy aesthetics and upscale look of the CF, but not for a rugged user/EDC knife.

I was also surprised to see some subtle (and not so subtle) differences between the blades and grinds as you can see in the pics:

The s30v is flat ground, while the BW is hollow ground.

Also, the s30v blade had an addtl. hole machined beneath the pivot. I have no idea why the hole was added - possible weight reduction? Ease of lubrication? Maybe someone more knowledgeable than myself can provide more info. I hope it doesn't affect the detent ball, or wear it down prematurely (as it seems to travel right over the edge of the hole).

Either way, I think this setup looks better and will perform better for my needs. The Black on Black with better blade steel and "grippier" scales (and added thumb-stud ramp) will be my EDC setup, while the Blackwash with Carbon Fiber will be more of a " special occasion" knife, I guess.

It's a great looking pair that matches up nicely, at least from a color/contrast standpoint, and texture-wise as well.
