I recently picked up a Ti framelock millie and a M390 CF millie and decided to make the ultimate zombie/ franken-millie. M390 blade, CF scale, Ti framelock.

Unfortunately the lockup is not right and the lock bar travels too far and there is up and down play :grumpy: I knew it was a bit of a long shot but both models appeared to have the same tang geometry so I figured it was worth a shot for the ultimate EDC. Has anyone had success with making frankenmillies? Would carbidizing the face of the lock bar be a possible solution? Has anyone tried it?

I did this with one of the M390 knives and one of the Ti/G10/M4 knives, and it worked great.

...but...

I had four of the M390 blades to try, and three of the four were totally unsafe. The fourth one works fine. So, clearly it is not something you can assume that you can (safely) do without some luck.
