I had a Small 21 Raindrop w/ Damascus and just picked up a Small WC Starbenza yesterday from a seller locally. I got home and had both out and thought how nice the Raindrop blade would look on the Starbenza. I've read about swapping blades and the dreaded "frankenseb" or "frankenbenza". But I thought I'd very carefully give it a try. I decided to keep the blade, washers, and pivot bushing together as a unit and make darn sure I didn't mix and match between blades. I was pleasantly surprised. I got lucky on lock-up as it was right on for both after the swap. No blade play and they centered fine. I was very careful when inserting the blade, washer, pivot setup into the slabs of the Starbenza and slowly tightened it back up.
Having said that, I understand I was very lucky with how the blades swapped. I would never sell either of these in the Frankenseb config. While I really like the look of the Damascus Starbenza the purist in me nags that I need to swap it back....
Anyway, here is the result. Anyone else have pics of swaps they've done?
I noticed the color of the CRK cloth seems to change quite dramatically in the pics. That must be a function of taking pics with a phone, adjusting the angle of the pic, zoom, and sitting at my kitchen table. No photo studio here..
