Having not taken a Para 2 apart (yet!), what would you do if you wanted to build up a Para 2 with a M390 blade with Orange scales? Would you just swap out the blades, or is it easier to swap one set of scales for another? Are all the parts interchangable?

I haven't checked the specs yet but, I suppose the M390, CTS-XHP, CPM-S30V, CTS-20CP blades are all the same thickness. The again maybe not!

I don't know about the Para 2 in particular, but when it comes to swaps, I like to keep all metal hardware together. So I guess you could say that I generally call it a "scale swap" rather than an blade swap.

I agree. Just swap the scales. I like the lockbar to be matched with the blade. You can probably get away with just swapping blades as it is the easier option. When you change the scales you have to deal with the lanyard tube which is a press fit in the scales. Getting the scales off the tube probably isn't that hard, but getting them back on most likely is. I don't know though because I have only ever rotated the scales on the tube to disassemble a knife and never tried to press the tube back into the scales. I guess you could try a blade swap and check the lockup on both knives so you don't have to worry about the lanyard tube and you might get lucky with good lockup on both knives.

After watching the "Grimsmo" video (thanks Sigifrith, great resource ),with it's pressed fit flared lanyard tube, swapping blades might be the easiest route. Of course that's assuming the new blades match up well with the original lockbars.

Thanks everyone.
