I have two of the 3/4" grit wheels and I was considering gluing them together and lathing them down as one piece to make a wider wheel. Wondering if anyone else has done this, or if some of the more experienced minds know of any particular reasons that it wouldn't be smart/safe.

Thinking that having more surface area for grinding would ostensibly lead to working faster? I'm I off the mark here, or should I try it, and if so, what do you guys think I should bond them with.

Thanks for the time BF.

Considering the speed that the wheels move at I would avoid that for safety reasons. Just buy a new paper wheel I imagine it be a lot safer.

Well I hear your point. I don't think that centrifugal force would really apply itself to the lateral bond of sticking them together so I don't know how it would be very dangerous per say? Can anyone supply reasoning to back up the idea that this would be a dangerous proposition?

You will be fine in my opinion. Glue them together with Elmer's White Glue. Take care to keep the glue even so you don't wind up with a balance problem. Put 'em on a flat surface heavily weighted while they dry completely. I'd true them up and resurface. I think you'll like the results.... Good luck
