Hi,

I wounder if it would be possible to build a costumized sak from the parts of other SAK's?

For example, id like to have all the features of the Craftsman, PLUS a real steel saw (trying to "saw" through a big piece of steel with a file = no fun :D ) - now i'd have to get the Swisschamp, wich is alot bigger.

So wouldnt it be possible to buy the Craftsman, remove the File and replace it with a steelsaw from any of the other SAK's?
I'd probably get a cheap used one from ebay to cannibalize for the saw.

Of course, a file might still be usefull at times... so the next thing i'd like to do is get another SAK, this time a small one for the small file, and replace the small blade of the Craftsman with the small file. (i never had the feeling that the small blade of the SAK's is much good for anything, having a small file would be far more usefull)

So.. has anyone ever tryd something like that or knows someone who has?

Yes, it is quite easy to do. But you have to keep in mind that certain tools are paired with other tools or backsprings. Such as, scissors are paired up with the parcel hook, or the magnifying glass with in-line philips.

The SOSAK forum over at www.knifeforums.com has a regular group of modders that custom build SAK combos. Might pay off to sign up and request access.

Here's a link to a SAK autopsy tutuorial. Enjoy.
