Model 902 10-Point Buck. A project for Franklin Mint that did not come to fruition so only a few sample knives were made.
My knife came with a wall plaque for display which unfortunately was slightly damaged due to poor shipping packaging. Not sure where it is at the moment.
I assume Buck only made the blade and Franklin Mint was responsible for the handle ???
Unlike others, I am very emamored with the knife. This knife has been pretty much sitting in a box untouched since I purchased it off eBay 5 years ago. Having fondled and photographed it today I am feeling motivated to find the plaque and hang it in my home office /man cave.

Sorry Roger, However like you my 10 point Buck display is somewhere?. For what its worth, the display looks like a picture frame, green felt backing with two metal studs to hold the knife. You can see the monogramed lower section of the display is some of the linked phots below.

See these old threads, click on then to open them.

jb4570 jb4570 Thank you for adding your pictures and links. I did not mean to detract from the other thread so much as wanting to start a new thread with a searchable title for future reference. I see now the title of the other thread has been updated. Do you think that is a tooth in the pommel?

It's supposed to be elk ivory. Likely faked though. I believe the handle itself is cast. FM would have wanted them all identical.

I seem to recall a conversation about the heat treat on those blades not being done, or not being done to a proper range. I think if you tap it, it rings like a bell more than the thunk. It's been a while since I've had my hands on it so I could be remembering something else.

Very very interesting.

Is this the first time a gaudy tacky wal changer display " knife " was ever offered by Franklin mint that was actually a real knife of good quality ?
It is interesting because it's a Buck blade, but I am glad these didn't come to market.
It would have sullied Bucks name , while also making people think F.M. " knives " were somehow actually worth something.

Thanks for sharing this interesting rare piece.

There is a reason these knives were never produced and it is because they open a portal to another world that you don't want opened. Now you are going to display it in the open? Keep us updated on how things start unexpectedly moving around your house and you notice redrum painted on the walls.

I think Buck got the heat treat just right. It cuts air easily with no signs of dulling 🤣 🤣 🤣

jb4570 jb4570 You read my mind. I was just getting ready to see if I had any pictures of my Franklin Mint Duke 110  (edit..no)
I'll only add that the year was 1997 and wonder if that would approximate the age of the 10-Point Project. I think there were several different shield colors? I posted this before but read something about the 10 worst buys in collectables, Franklin Mint and Beanie Babies made the list 🤣

Roger, if you look at the BCCI SO/LE list for 1999 you will find the answer for the 10 point Buck. I will also add that the handles of the few 10 point Buck 902 are real Stag and not cast fake stag.

I do think the brass deer head should be a door knocker on the Addams family door, when you knock, the door opens and a 7 foot tall Lurch asks you in a gravelly voice " You Knocked"!
