This is my Franklin Mint Bowie. these knives are pretty well built. anyone else have comments about these knives?

The knife does resemble the Bart Moore knife that I am sure it is a replica of, but it is not a great reproduction of the original. This knife looks better than other Franklin Mint knives that I have seen. They never say what kind of steel they use, but I would be willing to bet that it is something like 420J2. All their knives are really meant to be looked at and not used. For that reason the choice of steel is not critical.

Yes keith,
These knives are made to look at, I don't like how they don't tell you the kind of steel either. this one was made in the 70's. and they go for 100-175 on ebay(which is too much). they are better than the ones franklin mint makes now though.

Keith--You post on all my threads-Thanks!

I like the looks of it. I think it would be a good design to do from better materials. I've got some tractor parts that might look a little like it soon.
