I am seeing a sudden surge in eBay sales of Counterfit Alpha Dorado 271's with S30V markings. These knives are selling on a Chinese website right now for $11 to $13 shipped from China which might be a clue they really are not S30V ha ha. A number of them are selling without sheaths and are in a 'thin' box. Buck did have a real S30V 271 about 2013-2014. If the price is too good to be true, it is. On eBay, daladam_04 out of Winstead, CT has sold more than 15 in the last 2 weeks. Here are the pictures being used.

Here is a current advertisement from AliExpress, well known seller of counterfit Buck knives.... less than $10 including shipping from China.... Sure can make some money on ebay preying on the unknowning....

The fake doesn't look all that fake to me. Only compared to the real thing does it look different.

All that effort for $10? I don't get it.
 
I will take care of reporting the sellers to Joe Houser. He is the one at Buck going after the Counterfit sellers.

And that $10 INCLUDED postage from China.....
The blade must be made from tin cans, not S30V at that price.. :eek:

It seems post from China to here is govt. subsidized... they can ship us crap for almost nothing but you could never afford unsubsidized return postage if there was a problem....
 
wow....fine details in difference. blade finish and way lettering is applied, few other minor differences. for 10 bucks shipped included. ill bet the steel is 8cr13mov or one of those steels and they arent that bad.....and likely isnt all that bad heat treat wise as well. ive got srms, navy and ganzos for that price range that were well made for the low price point. shipped from china as well including in the price. i could be wrong though.

hopefully buck can slow down or stop these fakes.
